For sedation and anesthesia, you must be accompanied by a responsible adult to drive you to the office. He/she must remain in the reception area until your treatment is completed, drive you home, and stay with you until you are sufficiently recovered to care for yourself. This may be up to 24 hours.
You may not have anything to eat or drink for 6 hours before surgery. You should take any regular medications with just a small sip of water. Do not discontinue any medications unless you have been specifically advised to do so.
Remove nail polish and makeup. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that exposes your elbows and wrists.
Plan to rest for the remainder of the day. Anesthetic and sedative medications may cause prolonged drowsiness. Do not drive a car, operate heavy machinery or power tools, or sign any legal documents for at least 24 hours.
